Intuitive Song Coaching

A practice of listening, expression, and transformation through song

Intuitive Song Coaching is a guided creative practice that uses songwriting as a pathway to self-connection, emotional clarity, and personal transformation.

This work is not about performance, polish, or fitting into a music industry mold. It is about learning how to listen inward, trust what wants to be expressed, and give it form through song.

Many people feel the pull to write songs long before they know how. Lyrics arrive half-formed. Melodies surface unexpectedly. Something inside wants to be made, but there is uncertainty about where to begin or whether it even “counts.”

Song Coaching exists to meet that moment.

Whether someone has never written a song before or has a collection of unfinished ideas, this practice offers a supportive container for discovering an authentic voice and developing a living relationship with creativity.

What Song Coaching Is

Song Coaching is a one-on-one, intuitive process that adapts to the person and the moment.

Each session begins by listening: to what is present emotionally, creatively, and energetically. From there, songwriting becomes both a tool and a mirror. Songs are explored not as products to perfect, but as expressions to uncover.

The work may include:
    •    Developing lyrics from lived experience, images, or emotions
    •    Exploring melody and harmony as felt expression
    •    Gently working with rhythm, structure, or form when helpful
    •    Supporting vocals, instruments, or simple recording techniques as needed
    •    Naming and moving through creative blocks with curiosity rather than pressure

Technical guidance is offered in service of expression, not the other way around. No prior musical training is required.

Who is this For?

Intuitive Song Coaching is for:
    •    People who feel a creative pull toward songwriting but do not identify as “musicians”
    •    Songwriters seeking a deeper, more honest relationship with their work
    •    Individuals navigating transition, grief, or growth who want a creative practice to support that process
    •    Artists who feel disconnected from their voice and want to return to what feels real

In a world increasingly shaped by speed, algorithms, and AI-generated content, this practice centers what is human, embodied, and emotionally true.

Over the past several months, Benjamin has helped me bring what felt like a distant ‘dream’ into reality. He is able to meet me right where I am in the vulnerable creative process providing insight and endless encouragement.

Being on this journey with Ben through song coaching has been such a transformative experience. I thought I was coming in to write some songs, but it has gone such deeper than that to how I do all things, and how I show up for myself.

Song coaching with Ben has been the best thing I’ve done for my songwriting. He’s helped me improve exponentially. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

FAQ's

Do I need to be an experienced songwriter to join?
Not at all. This journey is for anyone who feels the pull to create through song. Some people will come in with years of writing behind them, and others will be writing their very first melody. What matters is your willingness to listen inward and show up for the process.
What if I can’t attend the office hours?
The "Open Studio Office Hours" (Thursdays from 6-7pm PT via Zoom) are completely optional and exist as a place to ask questions or get support if you want it. You can fully participate in the program even if your schedule never lines up with them. They will also be recorded and available to view afterwards!

How much time should I expect to spend each week?
Most people will probably spend between one and three hours per week. Some weeks may flow quickly, others may invite more exploration. You get to set the pace that fits your life. The goal here is to help you develop a sustainable practice of songwriting... a healthy rhythm of life, rather than an all-out sprint.
What if I feel nervous about sharing my songs?
Super normal!  Most people feel that. This community is meant to be a caring circle where everyone is here to create alongside you. Sharing is always by invitation, never forced, and you can choose what feels right each week.
What happens if I fall behind?
This journey isn’t about keeping up with anyone else. If life gets full, you can step back in whenever you’re able. Every seed stands on its own, and you’ll continue to have access to the material.
How old do you have to be to participate? Can youth join?
The Song Within is designed with adults in mind. The themes we explore, the emotional depth of the journaling, and the vulnerability of sharing works in progress tend to land best for those who have a certain level of life experience and self-awareness.

That said, some young people do have the emotional maturity and interest to participate meaningfully. If you are considering enrolling a youth participant, we ask that they:

• are at least in their mid-teens
• feel comfortable engaging in reflective, inward-facing work
• understand the confidentiality and integrity of the creative container
• can commit to showing up for themselves and their pod

If you’re unsure, reach out to us at info@bringforth.org and we can talk it through.
